The Rental Guide The Rental Guide is a guide book for tenants, tenant advocates, property owners, and property managers. The booklet details general information about the rights and responsibilities of parties to residential tenancy agreements. The text of the booklet is published on our website at www.mybond.tas.gov.au Copies are also available from Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading or Service Tasmania. Call 1300 654499 Rental Deposit Authority From 1 July 2009 any bond for a rental property must be paid to the Rental Deposit Authority (RDA). The RDA will hold the bond until it is claimed. Bond lodgement forms and money can be lodged with Service Tasmania or sent directly to Rental Deposit Authority. Existing leases prior to 1 July 2009 are not affected until they are either renewed or extended. Then a bond lodgement form must be completed and lodged with the bond money. More information is available at www.mybond.tas.gov.au Residential Tenancy Act The Residential Tenancy Act 1997 applies to any residential tenancy agreement in Tasmania whether or not there is a formal lease.
