Lesson 4.3 Homework 1. A circular coil has 25 turns and a radius of 5 cm. It is at the equator where the earth’s magnetic field is 0.7 G north. Find the magnetic flux through the coil when its plane is (i) horizontal, (ii) vertical with the axis pointing north, (iii) vertical with its axis pointing east and (iv) vertical with its axis making an angle 30 o with north. 2. A magnetic field of 1.2 T is perpendicular to a square coil of 14 turns. The length of each side of the coil is 15 cm. (i) Find the magnetic flux through the coil. (ii) Find the magnetic flux through the coil if the magnetic field makes an angle of 60 o with the normal to the plane of the coil. 3. A circular coil of radius 3.0 cm has its plane perpendicular to a magnetic field of 400 G. (i) What is the magnetic flux through the coil if it has 75 turns? (ii) How many turns must the coil have for the flux to be 0.015 Wb? 4. Find the magnetic flux through a 600-turns solenoid of length 25 cm , radius 1 cm, and carries a current of 3.0 A?

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
