Periodic=harmonic=sensation of a distinct pitch Inharmonic=not periodic=no sensation of pitch Frequency Spectrum – intensity as a function of frequency (shows how much energy or power there is in a specific frequency range) Spectrogram or Sonogram – intensity as function of both frequency and time

Waveforms and Spectra the Waveform shows you the variation of Pressure with Time (pressure vs. time) the Spectrogram shows you the variation of Frequency Spectrum with Time (spectral power vs. frequency and time) the Spectrum shows you the Frequency Spectrum at a particular Time (spectral power vs. frequency)
