He reports experiencing the sudden onset of excessive thirst and urination. He says that he is thirsty all the time and cannot seem to get enough to drink. How do you respond to this phone call? It is possible that this patient may have Diabetes Insipidus. Diabetes Insipidus is a condition that is a disturbance of water metabolism, the ADH hormone or the anti diuretic hormone is deficient. This results in extreme amounts of urine in conjunction with extreme thirst. Fatigue and symptoms of dehydration will also present themselves. Considering that this patient has extreme thirst followed by excessive urination he is at risk of dehydration
