Course Objectives The main objective in this course is to give you a firm foundation in the study of biological principles. Those of you who choose to continue in biology will need the basic material in order to understand more advanced concepts in later courses. If this is your only biology course you will gain an understanding of ideas that impact your daily lives such as biotechnology, medicine, and bioethics.

For whom is this course intended? Pre-professional students and science majors Any other major for which Biology is a pre-requisite (this includes Psychology majors) Other majors which do not require biology, but require a course in science There is a laboratory course that is intended to go along with the lecture course. They are independent courses!! You don’t have to sign up for the laboratory course in order to take the lecture course, and vice versa.

Attendance Policies Attendance is expected at all lectures, however, you don’t need to check with me if you are going to miss a lecture. Expected ’ means that I will assume attendance at all lectures when writing the exams. You need to attend the lectures if you wish to do well in the course.
