Brett McCormick Personal Finance Maxxed Out Maxxed Out is a movie that gives a first-hand look at why so many individuals are in debt. The movies website, maxedoutmovie.com summarizes the film as a story that shows how the modern financial industry really works, explains the true definition of "preferred customer" and tells us why the poor are getting poorer and the rich getting richer. By turns hilarious and profoundly disturbing, Maxed Out paints a picture of a national nightmare, which is all too real for most of us. Many people see the individuals portrayed in the story as victims. I do not reciprocate that feeling. Everyone that falls into credit card debt is a victim of his or her own ignorance. Many people want to blame the credit card companies for putting them in debt. However, the credit card companies did not force you to sign the contract; you chose to. What is sad is that the main target market for their cards is college student. The credit card companies know that college students usually do not have much money and that credit cards can fill that void. They
