1. Why must the police implement community-based programs designed for crime prevention? To keep people from arming themselves and taking matters into their own hands. These programs provide ways for people to investigate or inform to and with the police's assistance. So they can work together to get criminals and wrong doers off the streets and where they need to be. Though some of these programs are just to educate citizens on how they can better protect themselves from becoming the victims of various crimes or situations. What do these programs provide for the community? These programs provide citizens with an educated and well planned way to deal with crimes in their neighborhoods and communities without putting themselves in danger. It also provides multiple platforms for open communication to the police from citizens. The programs also can provide citizen information on what to do if they find themselves the victim of a crime or situation; this is helpful so they can find the people
