Application software-complete, self contained program, or set of programs, for performing a specific job Central processing unit CPU- computers brain, works w memory to control execution Communications- connects one IT device to another Controller- controls the transfer of data between computer and peripheral device Ergonomics- science of designing a tool or job to fit the keyboard File Server- fast computer that requires large amounts of RAM and storage space because it stores software applications and data files Firewall- built into ROM and helps computer “boot up” Hardware-electronic and mechanical components you can see and touch Hypertext- allows an easy way to publish information on a network Hypertext markup language (HTML)- which provides a language for encoding the information so a variety of IT devices can display it Hypertext Transfer protocol (HTTP)- provides rules used by browsers and servers as they communicate requests for data responses between each other Information Technology- consists of hardware, software, and networks
