Brittany Wertman Elvis Presley and His Impact on Changing the World Elvis Presley is a major icon who is known throughout history and it goes without saying that every generation, since he has been around, is well educated on his accomplishments and musical talent. From an early age it was obvious that Presley possessed great talent but lacked the confidence to amplify his abilities. Likewise with many of his fellow Americans, Presley was introduced to music and gospel through Church. At the young age of 11, Presley received his first, yet very cheap guitar, and thus began the legend of a man who would change music history. As said by David Fricke, senior editor of “ The Rolling Stones” Magazine (1986), “...At Sun Studio in Memphis Elvis Presley called to life what would soon be known as rock and roll with a voice that bore strains of the Grand Ole Opry and Beale Street, of country and the blues. At that moment, he ensured - instinctively, unknowingly - that pop music would never again be as simple as black and white.” Sam Phillips found exactly what he was looking for, “a white boy who could sing like a black boy and catch the beat of black music.” It was without a doubt that Presley’s talent would
