Students want to know…. What are the characteristics of a healthy relationship? What is needed to make a relationship last over time? How do you keep the sex in a long-term relationship exciting and satisfying? Do past unhealthy relationships or relationship problems predict future ones? (Bad luck, or habitual patterns?) Is it possible to have a happy relationship if you don’t quite trust anyone? Is monogamy “natural” or is it a culturally created norm? What does having ambivalent feelings about a relationship mean? Why do people play games instead of expressing their true feelings honestly? How can partners successfully establish the need for space and alone time without making their partner feel unwanted/unloved? Is stonewalling always a negative behavior? What if you stonewall because you are scared to say the wrong thing?

How do you know you love someone, or that he/she is “the one?” When couples are different (e.g. interracial), do they have more relationship problems? Is it possible for someone who never wants to get married to truly be happy? What should a person do if when single they constantly crave a relationship, and when in a relationship…they yearn to be single? How much does power have to do with a successful relationship— in the bedroom or otherwise? How much of a relationship is compromise, and when does one stop compromising oneself in order to sustain the relationship?

Why aren’t men necessarily attracted to powerful, successful or very independent women? Does this have to do with intimidation? Sexuality? Are most women submissive in a relationship when trying to make it last? Are women and men similarly affected by break-ups? If so how are they similar or different?
