MIS070 In-Class Exercise Evaluating Information Systems Overview During the course we’ve discussed broad types of information systems, like transaction processing systems, decision support systems, and management information systems. We’ve also discussed specific types of applications, such as customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning, and business intelligence. One of the goals of this course is that you are able to explain how a particular system fits into a business, how that system can improve the way a business functions, and how you know if a system is successful. We’ve been using set of questions to think about answers to these issues – a modified version of those questions are on the next page. Exercise In groups of four, you’ll be assigned one of the following systems: Customer relationship management Business intelligence Enterprise resource planning Order entry/point-of-sale Accounting (Accounts Payable/Receivable) For your assigned system, answer the ten questions on the following page.
