Jack wanted his parents to add on a music room to the house so he could rehearse. Jack contacted Acme Construction to obtain an estimate for the addition. Acme’s salesman, Stan, met with Jack and gave Jack a detailed written ‘Work Proposal’. The Proposal reflected a total cost of $10,000 for the project and was furnished on a form that complied with the state home improvement contractor statute. It was signed by Jack and by Acme. Acme’s Proposal reflected that Jack’s parents would have to guarantee payment for the work. While at the house, Stan asked Jack’s mother if both she and her husband would guarantee payment of the contract and she said ‘fine’. Neither Jack’s mother or father signed any written agreement with Acme. After the addition was completed, Jack paid $5500 of the $10,000 due under the contract and then left
