John Clark Psychology D-Vo 1/22/11 First Paper I don’t know a whole lot about psychology, but what I do know is that it can relate to me and the people around me. I am very interested in this subject and think I can benefit from it. As of right now I wonder why human beings do some of the things that we do. Why do some of us act in kind manors and why some are hateful? Why people lie, cheat and steal also. I would like to get the underlying story of where some of these acts began and how they affected these people. I find a lot of the terms in this book interesting but some stood out a little more than others. Dreams (page 206)- “ hallucinations of the sleeping mind”-are vivid, emotional, and bizarre. A sequence of images, emotions, and thoughts of passing through a sleeping person’s mind. Dreams are notable for their hallucinatory imagery, discontinuities, and incongruities, and for the dreamer’s delusional acceptance of the content and later difficulties remembering it. The dreams are so vivid we sometimes confuse them with reality.
