Unit 2 – Assignment 2 2 Unit 2 – Assignment 2 / Wal-Mart Going Green Policy Abstract An environmental policy is a basic description on what a business plans to do regarding certain circumstances within the business. We, as a group, have chosen Wal-Mart since we are all familiar with the business. We will be implementing a new policy called “Going Green”. This policy is about saving the environment using the four “R’s” (Reducing, Reusing, Recycling, and Recovering), in order to save the environment for future generations to enjoy. In the next few pages we will explain our ideas for the environmental policy derived from our research and observations. After reading our new policy, you will have an understanding of what we are trying to accomplish and how we plan to implement this policy.

Unit 2 – Assignment 2 3 Wal-Mart is a company dedicated to all green initiatives. Through research, it was determined that Wal-Mart can be a profitable business while still being environmentally friendly. With this in mind, it is the goal of Wal-Mart to be environmentally friendly by implementing the “Going Green” policy using the four “R’s”, (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recovery). It is a goal of the “Going Green” initiative for Wal-Mart to be supplied by 100 percent renewable energy and to create zero waste in all of its stores. Wal-Mart will also stock its shelves with products for its customers that sustain our resources and our environment. The goals are simple and straightforward meant to help our environment. Wal-Mart believes that it is justified in creating an environmentally friendly workplace in order to preserve the local environment for future generations. It is also believed that by offering environmentally friendly products to its customers that it will not only reduce costs, but will allow for a wider range of products for the customer to choose from. The environmental policy will not only help reduce usage of our natural resources, but will its customers the choice of buying products that have been recycled and are safe for families. In offering more choices, Wal- Mart will increase its customer base by becoming attractive to more people in the local community.
