Leadership, Education and Experience This research paper aims to answer a very important question in the field of leadership: the question is: is leadership an inborn quality or is it learned through education and experience. Is other words is leadership acquired or learned? Taking a quick look at the world today and seeing all the changes that happen in the whole world, especially in the Middle East and the Arab World, we can get a very clear picture: people seek to change their leaders, they want new leaders and they want to get rid of the old or current leaders. For example, starting with Tunis, then Egypt, people succeeded in changing their president (in these countries the president is considered to be the leader of the whole country). When there is a separation between the leader and his people or when the gap between the two parts increases, serious problems appear and the bigger the gap, the more the problems worsen and become very difficult to solve. What made leaders change or what caused their behavior to change and alternatively caused followers or people not to respond to their leaders? To answer this question we have to identify the process of leadership itself, is leadership acquired or 2

(Postner, 2004). According to Hughes, Ginnet, & Curphy (2009) the definition of leadership can be broken down into different ways, which are The process by which an agent induces a subordinate to behave in a desired manner. Directing and coordinating the work of group members. An interpersonal relation in which others comply because they want to not
