How the technologies available in Mechanical Engineering help in the development of your home town 10803627d Li Xuehan My hometown is Daqing, which is famous for rich of oil. Moreover, most families’ in Daqing job are related to oil industry. Therefore, I think the Mechanical Engineering department can provide technology aid for my hometown. I really hope that my hometown can transform into an integrated industry city by the help from the Mechanical Engineering. I found it that the Mechanical Engineering Department have got the Research Centre for Combustion and Pollution Control. The formation of the Research Centre for Combustion and Pollution Control in March 2001 is in accord with PolyU’s strategy in response to one of the major air-quality/environmental problems in Hong Kong – combustion and its related pollutant formation. It is established to create and develop a critical mass in the studies of combustion and the control of its related pollution problems. As we all known, Daqing, famous for oil production, is facing a problem of Combustion and Pollution Control. And I think the Mechanical Engineering Department can provide professional services to Daqing’s oil industry to solve problems related to combustion and its pollutant formation through carrying out of
