System Improvement 2 System Improvements The history of information systems coincides with the history of computer science that began the discipline of computer science emerged in the twentieth century. ("Information Systems, 2010") An information system is an academic/professional discipline bridging the business filed and the well-defined computer science field that is evolving toward a new scientific area of study. The information system process contains a theoretical foundation with more common legacy to include people, procedures, data, software, and hardware that is used to gather and analyze digital information. ("Information Systems, 2010") As we look more carefully at types of information systems, findings show a few worth mentioning. Some examples of such systems are data warehouses, enterprises resource planning, enterprise systems, expert systems, geographic information systems, global information systems and office automation. This background information is necessary to aid and assistance in the nature of the selected information system topic. The selected system for this paper is tax software
