Discussion Experiment 13: Kinetics In this experiment we were determining the effect of concentration and temperature on the rate of a catalyzed decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and observing the percent recovered of a catalyst after a reaction has gone through completion. In the first part of the experiment we made three different solutions, solution one containing 10 mL of 0.1 M KI, 15 mL DI water, and 5 mL 3% H 2 O 2 . In the second solution we has 10 mL of 0.1 M KI, 10 mL DI water, and 10 mL 3% H 2 O 2 . In the third solution we had 20 mL of 0.1 M KI, 5 mL DI water, and 5 mL 3% H 2 O 2 . We set up an apparatus that allowed us to observe the volume of O 2 being produced per second and recorded the burette reading and time until 14.0 mL of O 2 was produced. After we took the data and made three graphs giving us the rate of the reaction, the slope of the line. We then used the rate of the reactions and the volumes of H 2 O 2 and I-to determine the order of each reactant. Overall Reaction: 2H
