For her age, Emily has always been a little overweight and began to develop earlier than many of the other girls her age. Before this current school year, Emily never had problems being around the other children in gym or while participating in extra-curricular activities. Emily began withdrawing from the activities and began losing self confidence so her teachers decided to contact Emilys parents. Emilys parents told her teacher and counselor that Emilys weight had never really bothered her until recently, and that they had been in contact with their family doctor to discuss the affects of Emilys weight and early development.
