2 ABSTRACT Current computerized scheduling system shows inability to search for the best product route among all possible routes. But in the real working environment, different product route plays a vital role especially for enterprises that produces a variety of product at one time. This project describes the development of a scheduling system that generates all possible product route. This scheduling system operate based on the push scheduling concept. Then, with the aid of Ant Colony Optimization concept, all possible product processing routes are evaluated according to the total product scheduling time. At the end of the optimization process, the best product processing route can be identified based on the shortest processing time (SPT) calculated in the scheduling system. The system was developed using the Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, while the system databases were built using the Microsoft Access. All the required data are provided by a manufacturing company in Muar, Johor. Results shows that the proposed product processing route is better than the generated default scheduling in terms of the total processing time and shortest machines idleness in all the workstations.

3 ABSTRAK Sistem penjadualan kerja yang ada sekarang tidak mampu mencari jadual kerja yang yang terbaik daripada semua jadual kerja yang mungkin. Tetapi dalam persekitaran kerja sebenar jadual kerja memainkan peranan yang penting terutama sekali bagi industri yang menghasilkan berbilang produk pada satu masa. Projek ini memperbentangkan pembentukan satu sistem penjadualan berkomputer yang telah dilengkapi dengan ciri yang mampu menjana semua jadual kerja yang mungkin. Sistem penjadualan ini beroperasi berdasarkan konsep penjadualan ‘ push ’. Kemudian dengan bantuan concept ‘ Ant Colony Optimization ’ semua jadual kerja yang mungkin ini dinilai berdasarkan jumlah masa . Di akhir process pencarian ini, turutan kerja yang optimum dari segi tempoh penjadualan kerja yang terendah dapat dikenalpasti. Sistem dibangunkan dengan menggunakan perisian Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 untuk membina “interface” sistem penjadualan , manakala perisian Microsoft Access 2003 digunakan untuk membina pangkalan data sistem penjadualan ini. Keseluruhan data dan maklumat untuk pembanggunan sistem penjadulan ini diperolehi dari sebuah kilang perabot yang terletak di Muar, Johor. Keputusan akhir telah menunjukkan bahawa jadual kerja yang dicadangkan oleh sistem ini adalah lebih baik dari jadual kerja ‘default’ dari segi jumlah masa proses dan masa melahu mesin yang terendah.
