Humanities 232 Professor Piggram Jason Nance Case Study 2 As a salesperson trainee for six weeks my supervisor thought it was time to go on a business trip with an experienced salesperson named Vince. We arrived at our destination and into our sales meeting without incident. When we met our client he suggested we come to an agreement to write two different invoices with an inflated price for his company and another invoice of the real cost for our company giving a $10,000 difference that he would split with us and we could split 5,000 in between ourselves. Vince says this is a common occurrence where our company will still get the business and we will make some extra money on the side. The ethical issues involved are violating the principle of honesty to our company by not reporting the extra money obtained from their sales.

Unformatted text preview: The principle of lawfulness is violated by committing fraud to our company by making a fraudulent invoice to submit to them. The principle of autonomy could also be violated by not informing our company of the extra money. If faced with this situation I might suggest we contact our supervisor to find out how to proceed. Or we could turn our half into our company to boost our sales for the quarter. Also I could contact his supervisor to notify him of employee’s illegal activities. Given the current circumstances and likely outcomes of each I would most likely contact our supervisor with or without Vince to see how our company would like to be represented in such a circumstance. If they suggested for us to do it to make the sell I would reconsider my continued employment with such a company....
