Business Communication (BA401) Executive summary highlights A few things to think about as you write the executive summary for the 401  virtual team project: The executive summary likely will include: 1. Background/launch that provides a brief explanation of the situation 2. Specific information that provides an overview of the information that will be covered in the presentation (you’re letting Patricia Collins know what you’ll be covering on the following day) The executive summary should be able to stand alone and shouldn’t include information that’s not also provided in other places—that is the presentation that you’ll give the following day. You’re sending this document to Patricia Collins prior to your presentation, so she’ll be prepared to ask intelligent questions. Executive summaries are concisely written documents, but they’re not generalizations. Rather, they’re very carefully constructed, so the most important details are highlighted.
