One last look at 100 Years of Solitude: Aureliano is the last character or one of the last characters alive in the book, he knows his death is imminent, and that once he stops reading he will die, Malquiades is the fictional narrator of this story while Garcia Marquez is the creator and teller of this tale, what it means Maria del praseras: a story about magic, the cultural assumptions about magic, assumptions that come to life, story filled with remnants of Spanish civil war, o In this story, Maria, a mulata from Brazil, fights her last battles against the fascists in a complicated love story o Sold into prostitution by her mother, onto a Turkish ship, made it Spain on her own without knowing the language o What characterizes her: resilience maybe, even though she was brutally raped, she has a gorgeous home and she is not married, a choice maybe, she does not need anyone to support her, resilience and self-possession seems to stand out, although as she gets older she gets a little self-conscious o
