Mary Catherine Beck Miss Mulligan English 102 Unit 2 Project American Apparel With the economy and environment in an alarming slump, businesses are struggling all across the country to be more “green” in order to save resources and money. Although small-business owners appear to be suffering the worst, Fortune 500 companies have not escaped the fall either. From the local clothing store, to Gap, Nike, and American Apparel, the economic pitfall is the worst the country has seen in years. More clothing companies need to follow in the footsteps of American Apparel and use environmental textiles. The company is continuously growing in sales, because of their re balance of affordability and quality. However, many companies have failed to make necessary environmental business adjustments to keep up with the competition. Today, people are buying fewer items of clothing because of the economy, and they are buying cheaper clothing. This is a problem because when one buys cheaply made clothing one will have to replace it more frequently. The problem advances when these cheap clothes are wearing away our earth. What exactly
