2 CONSULTATIVE CHANGE RECOMMENDATION Consultative Change Recommendation Purpose of Consultation and Overview of the Consultation Process The purpose of this consultation is to examine the organization structure, population it serves, and organizational characteristics of ChristianaCare to recommend a change to positively impact the organization and improve patient care. This will be completed using a variety of data collection methods. A thorough review of the hospital’s metrics including Nursing quality indicators and HCAHPS scores was performed. Nurse leader interviews as well as staff and patient interviews were completed. Observations and chart audits performed. The organizations website, available to the public, was also consulted during the review. Organizational Analysis Description of Organization ChristianaCare is a multi-hospital system that effects health. They are made up of two hospitals, a free-standing ED, multiple primary care offices, outpatient lab and imaging services, specialists offices’, two surgery centers, Alzheimer’s day programs, multiple medical aid units, 17 school-based health centers, community health centers, and a home health program (ChristianaCare Health System [CCHS], n.d.). They have also recently acquired a third hospital that is in the process of being integrated in very early stages. ChristianaCare is the largest employer in Delaware and employs 11,856 people as of 2018 (CCHS, n.d.). They also have a large volunteer staff of 1,145 volunteers currently (CCHS, n.d.). ChristianaCare is Led by the CEO and has multiple people who report directly to them in the fields of nursing, physicians, communication, finance, operations, people, technology and innovations (CCHS, n.d.). These leaders who report directly to the CEO also have people who report directly to them CNO’s, Medical directors, Vice presidents of areas, and down to mangers and frontline staff. This is a tiered leadership organization. This facility offers many services as listed and viewed above. They provide health across the continuum of care. Starting with school-based health centers, primary care offices, virtual primary care, community health centers, medical aid units, surgery centers, emergency departments, acute care, home health and Alzheimer’s care at home. They do also have a HIV/AIDS clinic and a memory care center
