The integration of public healthcare and primary healthcare has been a difficult journey because they have been separate entities vying for the same resources. The integration for these two entities is difficult because of the for-profit system that most facilities in the Unites States operates in and making less money is an issue for these companies. However, there have been organizations pushing for change such as accountable care organizations that are providing cash incentives that are rewarding providers and entities for improvement in the overall health status of the population. They have established payment models that make public and primary healthcare providers care more about the population in the region they work in.
