The doctor’s research, the bioengineering of organisms for medical purposes is neither immoral nor unethical. It is merely an extension of existing use of organic technology for the purpose of helping people. (Sasson, 2005) Current uses for biotechnology include genomics, drug improvement and drug technology. (Sasson, 2005) It is a fact that currently, 25-35% of the time, medicines indicated for certain ailments simply do not work. Industry experts predict an expanding market in personalized medicines, which would be developed with the aid of computers and biological alteration. (Sasson, 2005) To the extent that the preservation of human life and health is an ethical goal, the pursuit of this type of technology is in no way unethical, or “deviant”. The research does not involve the use of human fetal tissue, or any other controversial material, so ethical and legal objections on that basis are merit less.
