Introduction There are several aspects of the 1920’s that gave it the name, “Roaring Twenties.” During that time many things happened to just about every aspect of life; whether it was in society, politics, or the economy. The impact of the 1920’s has affected the world as we know it today. Society There are several things that happened to society during the 1920’s, for instance, the immigration laws, prohibition, and speakeasies. Each of the above events left its own scar on the way the United States is today. Many people believe that we have made the world the way it is but I have to disagree. Immigration Laws The immigration laws were enforced to stop too many immigrants’ from coming in to the country, except for the African Americans. There were several ways that an immigrant would not be considered an immigrant. For instance, if you were born in the United States, then you were considered an American citizen. During the 1920’s immigration was huge, it got to a point that there had to be a law made to ensure we did not get too many “others” in the country. In order for a person to migrate to the United States, there could not be more than 2 percent throughout the entire United States. This created a trickle of immigrants from Europe and China had to stop altogether. Prohibition
