Client Server OSI Connection The client and server involved in web based communication follow specific steps along the OSI model in communicating with each other. The http protocol establishes a stateless connection that starts when the client issues an http request that is forwarded to the web server. If the web server is capable of providing the information requested, it responds with an http 200 ok message that includes the information requested by the client. In relation to the OSI model, first at the application layer the user clicks on a link in the web browser that issues the request to the server. At the presentation layer the request is then encoded according to the http standard such as using base64 encoding for passwords (which is the standard for http connections). Then at the session layer a stateless session is created using the http protocol. Then at the transport layer a TCP handshake is initiated starting with the Syn segment from the client, followed by Syn Ack

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
