Use the following to answer question 1:
1. The pie chart shows the distribution of a person's total yearly income of $36,000. Find the
amount budgeted for utilities.
8/100*36,000=$2880
2. The following scores were recorded on a 100point examination:
95, 75, 76, 86, 96, 71, 68, 81, 95, 76, 69, 82, 93, 88, 94
Find the mean and median final examination scores.
First sort the numbers
into ascending order
(from least to greatest):
68,69,71,75,76,76,81,82,
86,88,93,94,95,95,96
To find the mean, add
up all of the numbers
and divide the sum by
the number of numbers
(which in this case is
15).
To find the median,
count off about 7
spaces(it's close to half
of the size of the list)
until you hit the middle
number. Now count
count off about 7
spaces from the end of
the list until you hit the
middle.
68, 69, 71, 75, 76, 76,
81, , 86, 88, 93, 94, 95,
95, 96
Median=82
