Course Description: Focuses on state-of-the-art research in nutrition, including biochemistry and molecular biological techniques for nutrient-gene interactions, enzyme and coenzyme functions, and nutrient analysis of biologic materials. Includes data analysis and statistical methods. Prerequisites : NTR 126L, with a grade of at least C.

NTR 366L Spring 2011 Page 2 of 5 Requirements: Lab coats: Each student must own a lab coat and wear it while in the laboratory (see also below). Software: Each student must own a copy of Microsoft Excel . This can be purchased at the Campus Computer Store as part of Microsoft Office. Binder: Each student must purchase a large 3-ring binder for organizing lab handouts and lecture slides; bring this binder to every lab. Calculator: Please bring a calculator to each lab session. Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students should have acquired a working knowledge of, as well as understand the principles underlying, a wide range of biochemical and molecular biology techniques used in modern nutrition research.
