Dr. Linda Elder and Dr. Richard Paul propose the reader to utilize a checklist made out of eight strategic questions. By searching for these answers, the reader will be able to perceive the author’s thinking process as it was meant to be comprehended. One of the important way to understand an essay, an article or chapter is through the analysis of the parts of the author’s reasoning. (Dr. Linda Elder and Dr. Richard Paul, 2007, pp. 28-29) In the subsequent analysis, we will evaluate an article published in The Washington Post on Friday. March 2 nd , 2007 and titled “Another Intelligence Twist”. The main purpose of this article is to show how the Bush administration used a report from the CIA on North Korea’s uranium enrichment program, which was based on overstated and misread intelligence, in order to rationalize an assertive course of action toward an autocratic regime and how their conclusions and actions created an even more unstable situation.
