Why or why not? Would you be comfortable using a smart card or fingerprint instead of cash for all transactions? Why? Aren’t we already shifting to a cashless society? The Federal Reserve Bank reported that in 2003, 44.5 billion e-payments were made, compared with 36.7 billion checks. Banks are offering free checking accounts under the condition that a direct deposit is set up, some debit and credit cards offer rewards for using them instead of cash and online banking gives you the ability to set up all your bill payments at once without the use for ink, paper, envelopes and stamps. You even have the option to set up recurrent payments so that you do not have to fear missing a payment. The use of cards instead of cash makes it easier for consumers to track their expenses.
