Unformatted text preview: A scientific theory-a body of thought that has broad explanatory power and is widely accepted by an expert scientific community because it has been extensively tested by experiment & observation. (e.g. Theory of Relativity; The Cell Theory) Hypothesis-a possible explanation that requires extensive testing by experiment & observation before becoming widely accepted. Species—a population of organisms that are similar because they are descended from a common ancestor & often interbreed.
