What if Righteous heard this event from others’ slander, should he liable for defamation? t Rule: Sheriff Swindle might claim for defamation and he must show specific monetary loss that resulted from the defamatory statements. t Righteous Defense: If the statement was the truth, Righteous cannot be held liable for defamation, regardless of whether damages result.
