Why is each important in relationship development? The four characteristics of an intimate relationship are: Behavioral Interdependence – the mutual impact that one another have on each other. One’s actions can decide what the other person wants to do or is able to do. Behavioral interdependence grows as you are with a person longer, if that person leaves you will most likely feel great loss. Need Fulfillment – Meeting each other’s needs and desires. Supporting, sharing, and confiding in one another. Emotional Attachment – is a feeling of love and commitment between two people.
