WEEK 2 CASE STUDY 2 Week 2 Case Study Question #1 Does Jerry’s medical training qualify him to issue this refill order? Why or Why not? No, Jerry’s training does not qualify him to issue the refill order. Jerry’s training is a medical assistant and a LPN. In Chapter 3 on page 60 in the Scope of Practice section a medical assistant is not licensed or certified to have the prescription refilled. Jerry’s does not have the authority to prescribe any form of medication to any person for any reason. Jerry’s training only allows him to take vitals, attend to wounds, and sometimes administer injections under the supervision of a doctor and in a hospital setting. I am not sure but I guess it depends on the doctor. I would still believe that the patient would rather make sure that the doctor knew about the refill was added to his medical records. That way if something happened to the patient the attending doctor would know what the patient has taken and will be able to do what is required for them to make sure the patient is safe. Question #2
