CSS (a.k.a style sheets) A Web page has two important aspects: document structure presentation style Cascading Style Sheets (filename.css) specify presentation style for Web pages newer technology that works with HTML/XHTML now, we can control structure & content in one file (.html), and style in another (.css) allows for greater flexibility specifies presentation styles for elements To use Style Sheets you need 2 files for a Web page: .html document .css document

What’s in a .css document? Style declarations (like we’ve already seen) property : value presentational properties like font & color that may be assigned Usually placed inside a css directory Selectors a way to assign style declarations to specific elements Format of CSS documents: selector { property 1 : value 1 ; property 2 : value 2 ; property n : value n ; }
