RACQUETBALL TERMS Ace - a legal serve that is untouched by the opponent’s racquet Avoidable hinder - interference with the opponent’s play that could have been prevented or avoided, results in loss of serve or point for opponent Backcourt - the back fifteen feet of the court, covering the area from the receiving line to back wall Center court - the area of the court just behind the short line, midway between the side walls, the most advantageous place on the court Controlling center court - returning to center court and successfully preventing your opponent from returning there Court hinder - when the ball is deflected by an obstruction on the court such as a door handle, door edge, or wooden board on back wall Crotch/corner - the point where two walls meet each other such as the side and front wall Dead ball - a ball that is no longer in play (2 bounces, court hinder, etc) Dead ball hinder - an unintentional interference or screen of the ball that prevents the opponent
