What can we learn from Chris’s (or Jon’s) experience? If you’re going to take a risk, you should be prepared for what the consequences might be Why did he do it? o It seemed like he had an okay life? o He was against mainstream America—didn’t want anything to do with it. His way of dealing with his own problems. Deep issues with his family and just in general Doesn’t want to deal with it and just leaves instead Family issues: Lead to identity problems for CM that took him to certain writers/thinkers His parents do not have his respect Parents had conditional love for him Ch. 12: Dad had a double life for a period of years. Two families Obsessive personality Seems to get obsessed with every thing before him JK is also obsessive o He was obsessive about climbing o Obsessed with Devil’s Thumb He followed his dream to go out and be in the wild. o
