Hamlet Schedule of Assignments IB LA 12 Brennan, Nieb October 18 – November 19 Unit Expectations: *Have your IB world lit. papers in class with you on Monday, 10/18! *Pick one of the 7 soliloquies by Hamlet (see p. 268) and choose @20 lines from it to memorize and perform as a dramatic interpretation. (No more than 4-5 students may perform the same soliloquy!) Schedule a time to perform in front of your teacher. This will be a 25 pt. major grade; 5 points extra credit will be awarded if performance is done in full costume and in front of the class. *Annotate for language: 1. simile 2. metaphor 3. personification 4. disease imagery (Why disease? Infectious; however, if treated quickly it may be overcome, but if left untreated it typically spreads) 6. questions (to emphasize the confusion of the times, as well as Hamlet’s own confusion) 7. hendiadys (see pp.268-9) Monday, October 18 Read IB world lit. papers to a silent audience Background of Shakespeare Hamlet Journal Questions HW: Reread Act I for Block, 10/20, 21 Tuesday, October 19
