One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Unit Elements: Journal: 1) For each section of reading, write a  summary  of the main events—should  be about  three  sentences. 2)    Throughout  the novel, trace the following   characters : o McMurphy   o The Chief o Harding o Cheswick o Billy Bibbit o Nurse Ratched 3)     Follow one of the following  topics by recording  quotations and  analysis in your journal            Need two quotes plus two analytical paragraphs per part           Consider the questions for each thematic topic to help guide you (20 points each) * Quizzes : After you've read  each part, you will be quizzed  over the information  (20 points each) * Class Discussions : Class discussions will be based  on study  questions and  journal entries (40 points) * Essay Based on your chosen journal topic, you will craft a well written, critical essay comparing  One    Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest  to one or two other pieces of literature  from this year’s studies. (200  points) Essay Topics: 1.  Truth For this topic, you should  look at: Consider that Chief Bromden  says that the story he tells is "true even if it  didn't   happen" Record instances of narrative truth/non- truth. Struggle with the idea that something  could  be true even if it didn't  happen
