Course Description and Rationale
AP Language and Composition is a class that emphasizes the process and analysis of
composition and rhetoric through writing, reading, and speaking.
In their writing, students will
address topics and share ideas.
They will learn how to gather information, develop a style of
discourse, organize details, and control their language.
As readers, they will learn to recognize
the language patterns that authors have created and to describe their responses to these patterns.
Students will write using the different aims and modes of discourse which will include
description, narration, exposition, and persuasion.
