Unit Title: Our Economic Environment (Chapters 1-4) Unit One Course: Business Foundations Subject : Business Grade Level(s) : 9-12 Teacher : Holland Dates : Fall ‘07 Overview (Rationale) : This Unit is an introduction into the American economic system, and is designed to lay the foundation for understanding how and why consumer and business-related decisions are made. Lessons within the Unit will drawn on and expand upon students’ resident knowledge of how the U.S. economy functions. Students will study economic decisions, economic systems, economic roles, and economic measurements. Also, students will learn about basic economic problems, which each American faces, several features of the market economy, how each of the three economic roles is important in our economic system, and three ways to measure economic progress. Topics to be covered : Needs and Wants Goods and Services Economic Resources Limited Resources Economic Choices American Economic system Mixed Economic Systems
