Today's Objectives: th Students will work to develop strong thesis statements to guide their theme papers. Students will practice using voice to appreciate it as a technique in the novel, as well as to improve their own writing. September 11
Today's Agenda: th Thesis statement workshop Extra Credit Opportunity Doing "nothing" after you finish your thesis statement today is not an option. If you do not want to do the extra credit, you can work on your vocab (TEST NEXT BLOCK DAY) or your final Journal (#5), due TUESDAY. Thesis Statement On Tuesday you worked to develop a theme statement. Today, try to turn that theme statement into the thesis statement. Remember, to be a thesis statement, you need to include HOW the author communicates the message. You must turn in your thesis statement by the end of the class period today! Extra Credit Opportunity Read Dan Greenburg's "Catch Her In the Oatmeal." Notice how Greenburg parodies Holden Caulfield's voice. Write your own account of a children's tale or an event in your own life using Holden's voice. Should be approximately 1 page, typed, double spaced. Worth 25 extra credit points. Friday, September 11
