1 Avid MAC Xpress Power Up Our Avid MAC Xpress system consists of the following items: 1) Power Mac 9600 Tower; 2) Avid Drives #1 and #2 (9 GB each) ; 3) a Medea Drive (120 GB); 4) Panasonic 19" NTSC Monitor; 5) Viewsonic 21" Monitors ; 6) Mackie 1402 Mixer; 7) Roland Power Speakers ; and 8) Sony UVW-1800 Beta Deck. On the Table Top 1. Turn on the black POWER STRIP at right rear of NTSC Monitor. (Orange, green, and red lights come on) . This will activate the two Avid Drives and the Medea Drive underneath the table. (Green/Yellow Lights on Avid Drives and Blue Lights on Medea Drive come on). 2. Wait for the yellow lights on the Avid Drives to go out, then turn on the POWER MAC TOWER . (Green Light comes on) . [It will now take approximately 4 minutes for the Avid Software to go through its setup procedure and checks, so while you're waiting, go ahead and use the time to normalize the following components] On the Table Top 3. Power on the Panasonic NTSC Monitor and switch the Video Input to "A" for "Avid" . ("B" is for "Beta") . 4. Power on both Viewsonic Monitors by pressing in each white button "1" to the far right of the monitor. 5. Power on Audio Mixer by flicking up the larger toggle switch at the right rear of the mixer. (Red Power Light on) . NORMALIZE NTSC MONITOR CONTROLS NORMALIZE ROLAND SPEAKER CONTROLS VOLUME = 9 o'clock LOW BOOST = 3 o'clock PHASE = 12 o'clock HIGH BOOST = 12 o'clock CHROMA = 3 o'clock INPUT VOL = 9 o'clock BRIGHT = 3 o'clock CONTRAST = all the way right NORMALIZE MACKIE 1402 AUDIO MIXER 1. Make sure the Red Power Light is on. 2. Starting at the top of the mixer, punch out all six GRAY LOW CUT buttons. (Highest profile position) . 3. Turn all six BLACK TRIM POTS left to the "U" (Unity) position. 4. Turn all RED AUX POTS all the way left (Off). 5. Turn all BLUE EQ POTS straight up to the "U" (Flat) position. (No EQ) . 6. Punch in the GRAY MUTE buttons for Channel #1 and Channel #2 . Punch out all other GRAY MUTE buttons. 7. Punch out all ten GRAY SOLO buttons. (Solo Off) . 8. Turn the dark gray PAN POTS for Channel #1 and Channel #2 straight up for Mono Mix of playback. 9. Turn the PAN POT for Channel #3 all the way LEFT for assignment to Audio Channel 1 on the Avid. (Maintains stereo mix). 10. Turn the PAN POT for Channel #4 all the way RIGHT for assignment to Audio Channel 2 on the Avid. (Maintains stereo mix). 11. Bring up Channel #1 and Channel #2 WHITE FADERS to "10" on the fader level. 12. Dead pot all other WHITE FADERS (Off). 13. Bring up WHITE MONITOR FADER to around "20" on the fader level. (Adjustable Listening Level) . 14. Bring up both MAIN MIX MASTER FADERS to the "U" (Unity) position. 15.
