SEXUALITY AT DIFFERENT LIFE STAGES 2 There are many different actions that lead to sexual intercourse for the first time. Being in love is one of them. There is also peer pressure, resentment towards parents, and the fear of losing one’s partner if one doesn’t engage in sexual activity (Rathus, et al., 2005, p. 447). Regardless of Anna’s age, only one of these reasons should matter in her decision to have sex with her boyfriend for the first time. If Anna truly loves her boyfriend it is important for her to know for sure that the feeling is mutual before she considers sleeping with him. If she is sure that he loves her then she should have a talk with him and explain her mother’s concerns. The two of them should arrange a time where they can sit down and discuss their feelings towards each other with Anna’s mother. This may make her feel more comfortable with their relationship. Anna should also consider speaking with her boyfriend about how many other partners he has had
