CAPSTONE CHECKPOINT 2 In my opinion, the effects of the media’s portrayal of sexuality are a bad thing for adolescents’ sexual lives. I believe that there is too much sexuality involving young adults in the media and it makes it look as if it is alright for young people to be having sex. There are more shows these days, even on channels such as Nickelodeon where kids are kissing and dating. This gives young children the idea that it is alright for them to be doing this sort of thing already. I am honestly scared to sit down and watch television with my sons sometimes because I fear what types of commercials will come on. Things that I see that I think are negative for an adolescents sexuality are shows in which teenagers are having sex already, young girls are getting pregnant or having abortions, or adolescents dealing with STD’s. The one positive thing that I see that deals with adolescents’ sexuality is the commercials that urge everyone to practice safe sex and to use condoms. There
