When I assessed the problem I considered the task at hand, moving all three animals to the other side of the river. Then I considered the information provided, such as the cat and dog cannot be left together, nor can the cat and mouse be left together. I then found the common denominator in the scenario, the cat. After I considered these factors, I then proceeded to determine the best route to move the animals and which needed to be moved in what order. From there I chose the best strategy. The strategy that most closely describes my line of thinking is the algorithm and trial and error problem-solving methods. Because I had enough information to complete the task, it was a matter of putting everything together to accomplish it. I was able to complete the exercise with only one error because I did not realize that you could move an animal back across the river. After my first error, I tried again, this time moving the cat back with me and succeeded. I did not really think to evaluate my progress because it
