Memorizing facts and terms Clearer statement: I am jealous that you three can memorize this as quickly as you can, it doesn't seem fair that I spend more time studying and do poorly on my tests and you still call me and want me to hang out with you. I don't have time to hang out because I have to study more. Advantages or disadvantages to using the clearer statement: They understand where I am coming from rather than feeling like I have to lie and tell them that I am busy. Impact on you of having to think through the three questions: I am able to relay the truth to them without feeling bad that I am not spending time with them. 2. The work load around here sure isn’t fair. Who is involved? My 12 year-old daughter In what circumstances? Cleaning up the house daily. What behaviors are involved? Dishes, vacuum, dogs, birds, taking out the recycling and trash, picking up things out of place. Clearer statement: Now that you are old enough to help out around the house I expect you to share the workload. I can't do it all by myself I need your help. We both make the messes and enjoy a nice, clean house and we both love our animals equally therefore, we should share the responsibilities that go along with that...
